February, 13 2010 - Happy Valentines Day from YSL to You....

Interview with

LARA DIEN

Erotica Writer

Lara Dien.jpg

February 13th on WEUS 810AM 12-1 PM

Lara Dien, nom de plume, is not only a dear friend to YSL and its listeners but also a talented local erotica writer.  Her stories are filled with suspense.  And, as we all know suspense does add to the tension and tension does make a good erotic story.  However, when you add a little mystery then you’re really cooking.   Ms. Dien is no stranger to stirring the plot.  After reading one of her steamy, hot suspenseful erotica stories you’ll be sweating like you’ve been in a sauna for 10 minutes or had an intense workout.   Her stories sizzle!

To commemorate this Valentine’s weekend, we are delighted in bringing back the talented and charming Ms. Lara Dien. — author of The Fortuneteller’s Lay, Bad Enough and Hungarian Masquerade.  She has enchanted our listeners in the past and there’s no doubt she will do so again. Furthermore, we understand there’s a new manuscript in the works.  Perhaps YSL can convince Ms. Dien in giving us the scoop on her latest write, which has been rumored to be one story that will enthrall and titillate your imagination.

So come back and join Jose, Haydee and the YSL team as they chat a bit with Ms. Dien on her latest story.  AND, don’t forget to get your tickets for BAILAMOS!

YSL Sneaks a Peek at Orlando Ballet's BAILAMOS!

BailamosIcon1.jpg

When it comes to the ballet many see it as the contemporary ballet of days gone by but let me assure this one is not.  Mr. Hill’s artistic interpretative dance style has an urban edge, which is emphasized in this fast-paced vibrant sensual production of BAILAMOS!

As we sat there watching the rehearsal one could clearly see the inventive originality behind Mr. Hill’s choreography in this production for it was full of energy and high-speed.  The dancers exhibited their diverse training as they performed four different dance sequences for us.

The first of which was a Tango performed by Israel and Katia which allowed their love for the art to shine through. The intensity between them was electric and the performance energizing.

Next was ‘Cucurrucucu Paloma’ a very poignant piece performed by their principle dancers Katia Garza and Daniel Benavides.  Both were spontaneous and never lost their creative spark or flare. It was heart moving to watch as the two gracefully gave life to the words of this song and when done it was easy to see how Katia would be so moved being it brought a little of her native Mexico to her.

For those who are unfamiliar with the song, it is a Mexican Huapango. The lyrics speak of two lovers separated by an ocean but in spite of this division it causes a deeper longing for the two that would not be silence.  The dove was the symbol or messenger that carries the idea to the other.  It was very, very moving!

The Following sequence was the steamy rendition of Carmen, a story of a woman rebelling against a patriarchal society.  The dance sizzled.  It was passionately performed. There was enough heat in this dance to set any stage on fire.  Lastly was the exhibition of Don Quixote which had lots of leaps, it was full of high energy, and the execution was on point, no pun intended.  It was completely moving and inventively choreographed leaving the audience wanting more.

I’m sure BAILAMOS is going to be one of Orlando Ballet’s staples. Don’t miss this spectacular event February 19th at 8:00 pm at the Linda Chapin Theatre, Orange County Convention Center in Orlando,FL, purchase your tickets today.

Loretta_Sanchez_official_photo.jpgCongresswoman Loretta Sanchez has served California’s 47th Congressional District since she began her congressional career in November 1996; and, is currently serving her seventh term in the U.S. House of Representative.

She is a recognized leader on national security, intelligence, and counterterrorism issues. Sanchez serves as the Vice Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on Border, Maritime, and Global Counterterrorism.  She is also a member of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cyber security, and Science and Technology.

Furthermore, Congresswoman Sanchez has called on the U.S. government to move beyond a security only relationship with Mexico. The Congresswoman has pressed for active dialogue in pushing for this new approach in dealing with the violence in Mexico. She has called for increasing investments in infrastructure and economic growth along the border to foster legitimate trade and secure commerce between the U.S. and Mexico.

She has also asked for new aid programs to invest in economic development in Mexico to fight the poverty that many drug cartels exploit for their benefit. As a result of her work, many port workers have been able to return to work after long periods of waiting. And, this is just the tip of the iceberg for this powerful Latina.

Paul Partyka is in the race and he is running against Suzanne paul partyka.jpgKosmas for Congress. Partyka, an immigrant who came to the US through Ellis Island in 1952, was born in Germany but is Ukranian and Bulgarian.

As a youth, he grew up in an Irish, German and Polish neighborhood in Philadelphia where English was his second language as they spoke Polish at home.  It wasn’t until 1961 when he went with his family to downtown Philly near Independence Hall to be sworn in as US citizens.

Partyka served two terms in Winter Springs as mayor noting that he garnered a lot of Republican support during his mayoral campaigns.  Then served as an official with the Seminole Democrats.  He is currently the president of the Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce and is also currently a managing partner at a commercial real estate firm.

He’s been a big corporate businessman with a Fortune 500 company and a small businessman as an entrepreneur trying to raise money.  This is one individual who’s tired of the partisan bickering in Washington He’s more concerned about solving problems by bringing people together!

Join Jose and Haydee this Saturday as they chat with Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez and Paul Partyka who wants to make a change.  So tune in to the Yo Soy Latino show this week to find out more on these two dynamic and compelling individuals!

September, 19 2009 - About the HOLA program -- Also Deon Long

alicia Ramirez.jpgAlicia Ramirez is a native New Yorker of Puerto Rican parents who moved to Florida in 1982 and has been a resident of Central Florida ever since.  She received her degree from the University of Interamericana of Puerto Rico.  Her experience in the Administrative office for Federal Matter of Puerto Rico on Local Matters and at the La Prensa Newspaper allowed her to transition into the post she maintains today.

Since 2001, she has been directing the Office of Local Matter for Hispanics, HOLA—a program established by Major Dyer a few years back and costing the City a little more than $200,000 to implement.

Some of the community partners are the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, The Working Together Coalition, and Orange County Public Schools. Further, Mayor Dyer has just added a new advisory board: the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, Casa de Mexico and the Cuban National Council.

September, 12 2009 - Laura Flanders

Laura Flanders is called fierce, funny and intelligent according to Publisher’s -laura Flanders.jpgWeekly.  It’s no wonder GRITtv snatched her to be its host for the new, news-discussion and take-action program.  But there’s no stopping her as she also serves as the host of another on air American radio, RadioNation, a nationally syndicated weekly radio program of Nation Magazine.

In addition to her hosting flair she is the author of Blue Grit: True Democrats Take Back Politics from the Politicians (Penguin Press, 2007).

She makes a compelling case for the potential to build a fight back now, though the strategy of reforming the Democratic Party has proven a failure again and again. In order to best move forward, the ‘grass roots’ hard work and energy—which Flanders so vividly illustrates—needs to be organized into an independent alternative to the two-party system.

Ms. Flanders has appeared on several TV shows: "Lou Dobbs Tonight" and “Larry King Live" on CNN as well as "The O'Reilly Factor," and "Hannity and Colmes," (FOX News) "Washington Journal," "Donahue," “Good Morning America" and the CBC news discussion program, "CounterSpin". Species (Verso, 2004) is an expose of women in George W. Bush's Cabinet.

This Week's Guests

Lara Dien and Dara Edmondson

Lara Dien.jpgLara Dien is a regular guest on the Yo Soy Latino show. Known for her wit, her charm, and exceptional writing skills by our audience.  She is one of Central Florida’s romance erotic writers. Though she holds two degrees one in international affairs the other in law, Lara quickly traded those legal briefs for a chance to bring her characters to life.  It is always a delight and our pleasure to have her back.

Dara Edmondson is a contemporary romance writer who began making up Dara Edmondson.jpgstories as soon as she could speak. How about that! Her first novel (a mystery) was started while in college. But it wasn’t until years later that she tried her hand at different fiction genres.  Today she writes many genres of romance—young adult, contemporary, and erotic.

Both ladies have agreed to be our guest on the show as Jose did say he was up for a challenge. Tune in to this week’s program and see how well he does.

June, 20 2009 - Dr. Joe!

This Week's Guest

Dr. Joseph A. Shrager, DMD, General Dentist

Dr. Shrager is quite the personality who’s not reluctant to show his comedic side.  In the onset of his career he discovered a passion for Doc Joseph.JPGdentistry far greater than that of psychology having come from a family of psychologists.

His dedication to improve lives noble for he wanted to make a difference.  Why teeth one might ask?  Dr. Shrager replied because they just wear out and the real hope is often only delivered on the wings of loving intervention.  His soft spoken demeanor could easily soothe those childhood qualms.  He is one individual I believe can change the way one views the face of dentistry as we know it.

Ometrias Deon Long

One might easily recognized this promising young 38-year old Winterdeonlong.jpg Park lawyer by the glowing reviews from the Maitland Lifestyle Magazine as one who steps into a room can command attention with his easy baritone laugh and self-assured smile.

However, Jim Greer has other views.  Long’s challenge to Lew Oliver, who’s recognized by the Republican party as Orange County chairman when Long lost to Oliver by one vote in the December election, has been the subject of controversy.
